LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas attorney general Dustin McDaniel says he has launched an investigation into how a security breach at Target that affected millions of customers.
McDaniel announced the investigation Thursday. He joins attorney generals from other states who have started similar investigations.
Target said last week that hackers had stolen credit card and debit card information from shoppers that had made credit or debit card purchases at its U.S. stores between Nov. 27 and Dec. 15. About 40 million accounts were compromised in the breach.
McDaniel says his office is investigating the cause and the impact it will have on Arkansans. He says consumers should review bank and credit-card statements and regularly and monitor their credit reports
