CLARENDON (KATV) - Four people are charged in a Monroe County dispute after a man reportedly shot a hunter's dog.
According to hunter and dog owner Newell Gill, he was hunting in the White River Wildlife Refuge with two others when one of his dogs chased a raccoon onto private property. The owner of the property, Frank Newby, then shot and killed his dog.
Gill along with fellow hunters, Maggie Edmonds and Lee McGrill, have all been sentenced to 10 days in jail and a $1,000 fine for trespassing. The property owner was sentenced to 10 days in jail and a $500 fine for killing the dog. Newby was also sentenced to an additional six months in jail and a $2,000 fine for assault.
