LITTLE ROCK (AP) - More than 46,000 electric customers are without service across Arkansas following a storm system that blew through overnight and left behind powerful wind gusts.
The state's largest electric utility, Entergy Arkansas, says nearly 41,000 customers are without power Thursday. About 11,500 of them are in the Little Rock area.
Traffic was slowed in places across Little Rock as many traffic lights weren't working.
Arkansas Electric Cooperatives utilities say nearly 4,000 customers of First Electric Cooperative are without lights. South Central Electric Cooperative has almost 1,700 customers lacking power.
Among the areas served by Entergy, Garland County has 5,000 out, and Union County has about 2,800 dark.
Dozens of other counties had outages numbering from handfuls to more than 1,000 customers without lights.Copyright 2012 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
