Mountain View honors its "Hometown Heroes"
MOUNTAIN VIEW - In cities across Arkansas there will be celebrations to mark Veterans Day, Monday, November 11th. But in Stone County one special ceremony has already been held to honor veterans, and the ever-dwindling number of World War II vets.
On Friday, Ozark Heritage Bank of Mountain View held its Veterans Appreciation Day complete with a color guard, guest speakers, a veterans lunch and a retiring of the colors ceremony.
U.S. Senator John Boozman, U.S. Congressman Rick Crawford and State Senator Missy Thomas Irvin spoke at the gathering, and most importantly Mountain View's "Hometown Heroes" were in attendance - 16 veterans of WW II.
