National Guard Blackhawk clips power lines, causes outages

An Arkansas National Guard Blackhawk helicopter was involved in an accident Wednesday night, causing a power outage in Van Buren County.

In a news release sent Thursday morning, Major Chris Heathscott with the national guard said three soldiers were was conducting a routine night-training flight north of Clinton. The UH-60 Blackhawk's landing gear hit power lines around 8 p.m., cutting those lines and left several residents without power for about two hours.

No one was hurt. On Thursday morning, the Arkansas National Guard did not know the full extent of the damage and was still investigating the accident.
