Neighborhood associations oppose convenience store on Rodney Parham

Three west Little Rock neighborhood associations are coming together in opposition to the proposed building of a 24-hour convenience store at the southeast corner of Rodney Parham and Breckinridge - that's just across the street from McDonald's.

The associations representing residents in the Breckinridge neighborhood, the Colony West neighborhood and the Sturbridge neighborhood say "Kum & Go" plans to build a 16-pump, 24 hour gas station and convenience store on the property that now has an office building and a single-family residence on it.

The associations say they are concerned with increased traffic, which is already heavy at the intersection, increased noise and pollution, and decreased property values.

City planners will consider the proposal during a May 30th meeting. The neighborhood associations plan to attend, and say they'll bring many of their residents to voice their concerns.
