A Maumelle church is using a new project to help others in the community.
First United Methodist Church Maumelle broke ground Sunday on its First Fruits Community Garden.
The garden is located on the grounds of the church.
Part of the mission of the garden is that the produce grown has to be shared.
"One of the cornerstones of First Fruits Community Garden is that you must give a portion of whatever you grow away," said project founder Christy Anderson. "It doesn't have to be to Hope Alliance or a food pantry or necessarily the poor, but you have to give a portion of what you grow away, hopefully to someone who needs
Construction begins next weekend.
A dedication is set for September.
