New details about elderly man shot by Pine Bluff police

New information out concerning the 107-year-old man killed in a standoff in Pine Bluff over the weekend.

According to police reports, 107-year-old Monroe Isadore told officers back in June that they would, "have to shoot him or throw him in jail before he went back home with his son-in-law." Police say Isadore had jumped out of a car that he and his son-in-law were in.

And even before that, police were very familiar with the elderly man and his condition. Reports from 2008 reveal officers investigating a robbery at his home, where they note, Isadore "is close to deaf in both ears and very hard to understand."

Police shot and killed Isadore Saturday after reports that he'd threatened family members with a gun, and he opened fire on police.

Meanwhile, police say an officer involved in the shooting has been placed on paid administrative leave.
