NLR mayoral race ends in run-off

NORTH LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - It was supposed to be a predictable race, but Tuesday proved to be far from that.

The North Little Rock mayoral race ended in a run-off with candidate Tracy Steele taking 50 percent of the vote and his closest opponent, Joe Smith, with 40 percent.

The other candidates - Mark Clinton and John Parker took the remaining ten percent.

Mayor Patrick Hays has held the position since 1989. He announced in January he would not run for re-election.
