NORTH LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - A suspect was arrested Wednesday for a homicide earlier that night.
Sgt. Brian Dedrick with North Little Rock Police said in a press release Thursday that Antawn Kemp, 22, admitted to shooting 20-year-old Andre Deshawn Bell several times after an argument around 6:15 that evening.
They were at the Silver City Courts public housing community in the 700 block of West 18th Street at the time. According to investigators, Bell was hit at least once and pronounced dead at the scene.
Kemp was charged with first degree murder and illegal possession of firearms. He was denied bond and, at last check, was being held at the Pulaski County Regional Intake Center.
This was not Kemp's first run-in with police. He pleaded guilty to a July 2006 charge of second degree battery in Pulaski County. He started a six year prison sentence in January 2007 but was released a few weeks shy of one year later.
That sentence also included six years of probation, which would have ended December 20 of this year.
