HICKMAN (AP) - A barge that sank to the bottom of the Mississippi River in northeastern Arkansas has been raised.
The Blytheville Courier News reported Thursday that the barge, which overturned and sank at Kinder Morgan's dock in early April, was raised last week. The vessel has been sent downriver with a salvage company.
Mississippi County Sheriff Dale Cook told the newspaper that all of the steel coils on the barge had been collected.
Two men - Juan Nieves and Nicolas Perez - went missing after the barge flipped near Blytheville while unloading steel coil. A body was found in the river, and officials believe it belongs to one of the two victims. The body can't be identified though until a coroner's report is issued.
