Pancake breakfast to raise money for hungry Arkansans

(KATV) Saturday, April 20, Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Church is holding an all you can eat pancake breakfast. For $5 per person from 8-11 a.m., you can enjoy pancakes and refreshments.

All proceeds will go to Community Breakfast to fund meals for poor and homeless people. The organization is 100 percent funded on donations and volunteers.

The Open Door Outreach Network is a volunteer organization helping with the fundraiser. A spokesperson says several organizations with feeding programs have shut their doors in recent months and The Salvation Army has changed their policy and doesn't feed anyone who isn't paying to stay at the shelter. Because of that, Community Breakfast has been overwhelmed with people in need and now runs out of food before everyone gets fed.

The amount of men, women and children in need of a warm meal has doubled for Community Breakfast volunteers and mathematically that means the need for volunteers and food is greater.

The pancake breakfast fundraiser will be Saturday, April 20 at Quapaw Quarter UMC located at 1601 S. Louisiana Avenue in Little Rock.

November 8, 2012, Open Door Outreach Network helped the Stew Pot raise several thousand dollars so they could continue feeding people in need 5 days a week.
