Parents arrested after toddler found wandering on a Saline Co. road

SALINE COUNTY (KATV) - A Saline County couple has been arrested after their young daughter was found wandering alone on a Mabelvale road. According to the sheriff's office report, Mark Cole was driving on N. Pass Road at E. Draw Road when he saw the toddler by herself in the roadway. He pulled over and put the child in his car out of the rain and called 911. Police responded and determined that the child was not injured, but was extremely dirty and wet. After checking with several nearby residents, police were finally able to locate the child's home, approximately a quarter-mile from where the she was found. Police arrested the girl's parents, 23-year-old Jessica Teague and 28-year-old Steven Teague, who were unaware the girl had wandered away. Officers discovered the home had no electricity and was in deplorable condition - with very little food, and every room covered in trash, animal feces, and roaches. The toddler and her four-year-old brother were taken into state custody and the parents have been charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.{}
