PCSSD hires new deputy superintendent

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - The Pulaski County Special School District (PCSSD) has hired Laura Bednar, Ed.D., as its incoming deputy superintendent.

Bednar, who currently serves as the assistant commissioner of the Arkansas Department of Education, will oversee the Learning Services Division.

In that role, she will manage instruction, curriculum, professional development for certified employees, federal programs, workforce development, gifted and talented programs, fine arts programs, athletics, counseling and testing.

Bednar replaceS Linda Remele, Ed.D., who resigned effective June 30.

Bednar joined the Arkansas Department of Education in 2010. From 2004 until 2010 she served as superintendent of schools for the Stuttgart School District. She was the language arts curriculum coordinator for PCSSD from 2000 until 2004, and prior to that she worked as a classroom teacher and administrator.
