Person who jumped into Ark. river to avoid collision still missing

Police have identified the woman who jumped off an I-30 bridge into the Red River to avoid being hit by an 18-wheeler.

Arkansas Game and Fish Commission spokesman Keith Stephens said searchers in boats with sonar resumed the search in southwest Arkansas on Sunday morning for Janice Burris Northcross.Her sister said Northcross was heading to work with their other sister about 2:00 a.m. Saturday when they stopped to help a co-worker who had been involved in an accident.Northcross was one of three people outside their vehicles when a commercial truck jack-knifed and slid toward them.Ricky Northwood, a co-worker, jumped off the bridge as well and hit the embankment and was injured. He was rescued almost immediately.The temperature outside at the time was 29 degrees.
