LITTLE ROCK - The Office of Social Justice Initiative of Philander Smith College will host a panel discussion entitled: "Hands Up: Now What?" Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Kendall Nugent Center.
The college says the discussion is in response to "the recent accounts of deaths in the African American communities due to excessive police force, including the August 9th death of Michael Brown, an unarmed 18 year old in Ferguson, Missouri".
The college says the program is meant to educate PSC students and the public about their rights as citizens, the importance of grassroots organizing to effectively achieve justice, and what to do if confronted by police".
Invited guests include LR Police Officer Willie Davis, Attorney Jimmy C. Morris of the Morris Law Firm and Emory Wright of Atlanta-based "Project South".
The event is free and open to the public
