Pilgrim's Pride to close El Dorado plant

EL DORADO, Ark. (AP) - Pilgrim's Pride has announced plans to shut down its rendering plant in El Dorado that has 30 employees.

Pilgrim's Pride spokesman Cameron Bruett told the El Dorado News-Times that the company is moving the production to a Pilgrim's Pride plant in Texas.

The plant closing comes after Pilgrim's Pride shut down its poultry process plant in El Dorado in 2009 and left about 1,500 employees and 160 contract growers out of work.
