Pine Bluff chief of police fired

PINE BLUFF (KATV) - Pine Bluff's new mayor Debe Hollingsworth got down to business immediately after being sworn in.

She fired controversial Chief of Police Brenda Davis-Jones Tuesday. Chief Davis-Jones was hired by former Mayor Carl Redus in 2010. In her less than two years on the job, she received "no confidence" votes by both police department personnel and members of the city council.

Her name was scrapped off signs at the police station the same day and officers collected her city-owned laptop from her home.

Mayor Hollingsworth appointed retired Lt. Jeff Hubanks interim chief.
