POCAHONTAS (AP) - A northeast Arkansas prosecutor says four Pocahontas police officers involved in a shooting that killed an assault suspect were justified in their actions.
Prosecutor Henry Boyce tells The Jonesboro Sun that he's cleared the officers involved in the Feb. 7 shooting that killed 27-year-old Jonathan Tims.
Arkansas State Police say the Pocahontas officers were investigating a report that Tims had threatened his girlfriend with a gun. Authorities say Tims fled into nearby woods and pulled out a handgun when he was confronted by four officers.
Authorities say the officers opened fire, hitting him seven times.Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
