Police: Arkansas man charged in officer assault
MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas authorities have charged a man after a police pursuit that left the man and an officer injured.
The Baxter Bulletin reports (http://bit.ly/1w0nhnQ ) 53-year-old Rory Gregory is charged with aggravated assault, fleeing, theft and resisting arrest using force.
Mountain Home Police say officer Larry Caruso pursued Gregory's truck Saturday night along U.S. Highway 62 because of a suspected theft.
Police say Gregory rammed the officer's car. They say Caruso got out to arrest Gregory, who tried to run over the officer. Police say Caruso punched out the truck's driver's-side window and managed to stop the vehicle.
Caruso suffered minor cuts to his arms.
Gregory was treated at a hospital before being booked into the Baxter County Detention Center on $1 million bond. Online jail records didn't indicate an attorney.
