FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas police say they have arrested a man who confessed to stabbing his pregnant girlfriend to death.
Sgt. Daniel Grubbs with the Fort Smith Police Department says 21-year-old Douglas True called 911 just before noon on Sunday. Grubbs says True told police he believed he committed a serious crime and wanted to turn himself in.
Grubbs says the body of 22-year-old Briana Butler was found lying on the floor of the bathroom. He says she was near or at mid-term of her pregnancy.
A knife was found at the residence that police believe was used as a weapon. True has been charged with two counts of capital murder.
Authorities didn't know whether True has an attorney. He is being held at the Sebastian County Detention Center without bond.Copyright 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
