Police chase ends at Philander Smith College dorms
(KATV)-A police chase ended at the Philander Smith College dorms in Little Rock on Sunday evening. Little Rock Police say Emory Craig, 23, Clinton Burrell, 22 and Jefferies Carville, 20 have been arrested for running from police and allegedly pointing a gun at children. Police say the three men were on Chester Street in a white BMW when a passenger allegedly pointed a gun at two young children. Sergeant Michael Ford of the Little Rock Police Department said children, between the ages of 8 and 12, were visibly scared. "One of them was walking and one of them was running and then they stopped in their tracks. And that's when I hit my sirens to distract them and try and prevent a shooting from happening," Ford said. That's when police say the suspects drove off and a chase ensued. The car chase ended at Philander Smith College. "They circled around in there and exited the vehicle with the vehicle still running and took off into the campus dormitories," Ford said. The police chased the suspects into a dorm, locking it down and searching every floor for the suspects. "We did a room to room search of the second and third floor. And we ended up apprehending two of them on the third floor," Ford said. The third suspect was picked up by campus security. After repeated attempts, representatives from Philander Smith College refused to comment on the situation or the safety of their students. Students on campus say the suspects are students at the college. Several students who wanted to speak to Channel 7 News about the lockdownlock downey were reprimanded by the dean. The gun was recovered in the car. All three suspects are charged with fleeing. Two of the men have been charged with carrying a weapon on school grounds. The driver was charged with careless driving. Police couldn't find the children, but if they do, they say even more charges could be filed.
