Police investigating death of Pocahontas man
POCAHONTAS, Ark. (AP) - Authorities say a northeast Arkansas man indicted in a federal drug probe has been found dead.
Arkansas State Police say the death of 34-year-old Travis Perkins is considered a homicide. The Jonesboro Sun reports (http://bit.ly/11gryBo ) that authorities aren't saying how Perkins died - only that it wasn't self-inflicted or from natural causes.
Perkins was found dead in an apartment Monday. He had been scheduled to appear in federal court this week to change his plea in the federal drug case.
Perkins was indicted alongside seven others, including the wife of a former Pocahontas police chief. Perkins was accused of manufacturing and possessing methamphetamine.
State Police Lt. Brant Tosh says no arrests have been made but police have several persons of interest in Perkins' death.
