Police: Juvenile suffers accidental gunshot wound

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - A juvenile reportedly suffered an accidental gunshot wound to his face Saturday night.

According to Little Rock Police Department spokesman Lt. Sidney Allen, around 7:45 p.m.,{} officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 4100 block of W. 17th Street and found a boy suffering from a gunshot wound to the side of his face.

Witnesses told police the boy was accidentally shot by one of his friends.{} The shooter reportedly fled the scene before police arrived.{}

Lt. Allen said witnesses told officers the gun belonged to the victim, but his friend was playing with it when it accidentally went off and struck the boy.{}

The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.{}
