PRESCOTT (KTBS) - What was supposed to be a night to remember ended tragically for two teenagers.
Tiara Brooks, 16, and her escort, 18-year-old Tiere Gulley, were in a crash just minutes after leaving prom. Authorities said Brooks was driving north when she crashed into a tree and flipped. She was thrown from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. Gully was taken to a Texarkana hospital.
Robert Poole, "This is one of thelast things they expect, especially a senior going to your prom," said Prescott School Superintendent Robert Poole. "This isthe worst of the worst."
Pool said not only their community but other surrounding areas have pitched in to help students deal with the tragedy.
"We've had a lot ofcommunity counselors come help our school counselors we have on staff. We hada meeting with our teachers, we got a plan together to try and address thisand get the most support we can for our students."
Brooks had only been enrolled at Prescott for three months but her cousin, Porsche Shaw, said Brooks was very well liked and had already made lots of friends.
"She had aninfluence on everybody around her, really," said Shaw. "If you were sad, you could catcha smile from her and brighten up your day."
Family members said Gully is expected to be released from Christus St. Michael Hospital on Tuesday.
A blood alcohol test was performed but, as of Wednesday, authorities were still waiting for the results.
