LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - If you see smoke at the Ouachita or Ozark-St. Francis National Forests Thursday, it may not be cause for alarm.
National forest fire managers scheduled prescribed burns in both areas of Polk and Perry counties. In the Ouachitas, a 231 acre burn was planned east of Cove. In the Ozarks, 50 acres are slated to burn near Little Bear Lake.
A prescribed fire is one that is ignited by highly trained firepersonnel under specified fuel and weather conditions to achieve specificresource objectives.
