CONWAY, Ark. (AP) - The Faulkner County administrator is due in court for a hearing in which he's asking that a felony case against him be dismissed.
Jeff Johnston is due in Faulkner County Circuit Court Wednesday where he argues that the judge who signed an arrest warrant and felony charge against him was out of her jurisdiction.
Johnston is charged with using county money to pay for about $3,800 in work on his driveway. He has pleaded not guilty.
The Log Cabin Democrat reports that Johnston's attorneys claim documents signed by Juvenile Court and Fifth Division Judge Rhonda Wood violates a state Supreme Court administrative plan. The attorneys say the plan allows Wood to preside only over civil and juvenile cases, neglect cases, and criminal cases where juveniles are charged as adults.Copyright 2012 The Associated Press.
