Prosecutor says woman arrested for defrauding tornado victims is innocent

FAULKNER COUNTY-- 20th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney, Cody Hiland, says Melissa Brown, 33, is innocent.

Back in May, she was arrested by the Mayflower Police Department, on a theft of property charge. Officer Mark Winchester said, following his investigation, he believed that Brown was pretending to be a tornado victim and taking relief supplies for her own benefits.

However, this morning, Officer Winchester was terminated, following Hiland's discovery that Winchester withheld evidence regarding this case.
