Pulaski County Jail inmate found dead

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A Pulaski County Jail inmate has been found dead in his cell.

The sheriff's department said Tuesday that 34-year-old Erik Canada of Roland was found dead about 5:30 p.m. Sunday by a jail guard who was making rounds and checking on inmates.

A suspected cause of death was not released and a sheriff's spokesman did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

The sheriff's office said in a news release that Canada's body was sent to the state medical examiner's office to determine the cause of death.

Canada was arrested last Wednesday for a parole violation and was due to be released Wednesday.
