Rally for domestic peace set for Friday
The Arkansas Coalition Against Domestic Violence will hold a rally for Domestic Peace on Friday at 2 p.m. at the State Capitol.
The rally will take place on the steps of the Capitol and will include guest speakers First Lady Ginger Beebe, Attorney General Dustin McDaniel and a survivor of domestic violence.
The rally is taking place to mark National Domestic Violence Awareness month.
According to the organization there were 14 confirmed domestic violence homicides in the state in 2011. Nationally, Arkansas ranks 9th in the per capita homicides attributed to domestic violence.
ACADV has teamed up with Verizon Wireless to create the Hopeline. The Hopeline turns discarded cell phones into support communication for domestic violence victims. Phone donations can be made at any Verizon Wireless store.
