Report on shooting of man by deputy not released
JONESBORO (AP) - Craighead County Sheriff Marty Boyd says the incident report on the shooting of a Brookland man by a deputy is being withheld pending an investigation by Arkansas State Police.
Boyd and ASP Lt. Brandt Tosh told The Jonesboro Sun that details of the shooting of 37-year-old Steven Martin Honeycutt by Deputy Brandon Womack will be released after the report is given to prosecutors. Tosh says investigators are working as fast as possible - but it may be several weeks before the State Crime Lab processes evidence in the case.
Authorities say Honeycutt was shot in the arm after being stopped Saturday night for a traffic violation. The injury is described as non-life threatening.
Boyd says Womack is on paid leave and has provided a written statement about the shooting.Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
