Central Arkansas Rescue Effort (CARE) for Animals Inc. in collaboration with Wildwood Park for the Arts, will host its 13th Annual Paws on the Pavement RunWild 5K Race, 1-Mile Run/Walk and Family Fun Day on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at Wildwood Park in Little Rock.
This year's event will serve as the kick off for Harvest! Festival at Wildwood and will feature activities for the whole family (pets included). The day will begin with a 5K race at 8 a.m. followed by a 1-mile run/walk at 9:30 a.m. (leashed dogs and kids welcome). Activities for both pet and owner include a dog costume contest, photo booth, pet microchipping, pet psychic readings by Carol Pate, dog agility demonstrations, adoptable pets, lots of food as well as additional activities and vendor booths.
5K Race pre-registration entry fee is $25 per person or $20 per person for team racers (teams must have a minimum of four members). 1-mile race pre-registration entry fee is $20/person and $15/team racers. Day of race entry fee for 5K racers is $30/person and $25/person for 1-mile participants.
Pre-registration guarantees entrants one t-shirt, a race goodie bag, and one complimentary day pass to Wildwood's Harvest! Festival. Everyone can be part of the fun, even those not interested in running, by donating as a "Saturday Sleep-In" virtual participant.
All proceeds from this event will be divided between Wildwood Park for the Arts and CARE for Animals, both 501(c)3 non-profit organizations. CARE's purpose is to rescue dogs and cats facing euthanasia from animal control facilities and to decrease the number of homeless and abandoned animals through aggressive spay/neuter programs. Since its inception in 1998, CARE has rescued more than 3,000 dogs and cats and provided over 10,000 free or discounted sterilizations for pets from limited-income families.
