Searcy voters to decide tax increase proposal

SEARCY - Voters go to the polls in February to decide on a 1% sales tax increase.{}{} If passed, the tax would sunset in 8 years.

According to the mayor's office Searcy has one of the lowest city tax rates in the state.

Nearly 42% of the tax, approximately $21 million, will go to streets and drainage, 29% or nearly $15 million will go to police and fire.

Early voting begins February 4th at the White County Clerk's office, and the election will be held on February 11th.{}{} All voting locations will be open{} on election day.{}{}
