A shooting ends fatally early Sunday morning. It happened in Russellville on North Greenwich Ave at 10:39 a.m.
Police were called to a one-family home and found a 26-year-old man fatally wounded from at least one gunshot. Neighbors of the victims as well as a close friend say they cannot figure out why someone would kill this father of two.
Anita Richman walked out of her house early this morning to find a man laying in his driveway fatally injured by a gunshot.
"They worked on him for probably about fifteen minutes before they started to try to put him on the stretcher. They were there working on him for a long time but it didn't look like they were getting any results," said Richman, a neighbor of the victim.
Victoria Foster, a close friend of the victim, says she cannot think of a reason why someone would shoot and kill him.
"We're devastated, you know what I'm saying, he was a good person. He was my friend, like personally, like I know him. I just talked to him yesterday," said Foster.
Russellville Police spent the day at the scene trying to gather evidence and answer vital questions that will lead to the killer.
"We're trying to find certain suspects that might have been in the area. We're trying to interview all of our witnesses," said Drew Latch, Spokesman of the Russellville Police Dept.
Candy Hendrix says this is the third fatal shooting in what most describe as a quiet neighborhood.
"Back to back to back stuff happening these past few months that it's like what people are going crazy," Said Hendrix.
Hendrix, who has a young daughter, says she plans on moving out of the neighborhood soon.
"I don't deal in this kind of stuff, I'm not used to it and that's just, I just don't like it at all. Shooting, killing, taking someone's life for nothing," said Hendrix.
Police have not released the name of the victim yet. A suspect has not been named.
