MORRILTON (Petit Jean Country Headlight) - The South Conway County School District hopes to obtain grant funding to add a second school resource officer.
Superintendent Dr. Annette Henderson told the district's board of education Monday night that she is working with the city of Morrilton and Chief of Police Sonny Stover to secure a grant that would pay for a portion of the officer's salary for up to four years.
"That would be a 75/25 split for the first three years and on the fourth year, the district would assume 66 percent of the total salary," she said.
Henderson said she would ultimately like to have a resource officer at every school in the district. Currently, the district has only one resource officer serving all five schools.
