HAZEN, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State Police have identified the person killed in a chain-reaction crash that shut down Interstate 40 in east Arkansas for hours on Wednesday.
State police say 60-year-old Carl Stark of Crescent, Okla., died in the crash Wednesday in the I-40 construction zone near Hazen.
A preliminary report from state police says eastbound traffic had slowed in the single-lane zone when Stark rear-ended another tractor-trailer. That caused a chain-reaction crash involving five more vehicles.
Three other people were injured in the crash.
Traffic in both directions was rerouted as crews cleared the wreckage, which took about five hours.Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
