State Republican party to make announcement on voter ID bill
LITTLE ROCK (KATV) —
The Republican Party of Arkansas will make an announcement Thursday morning regarding the new voter identification law.
The legislation requires voters to show voter identification before casting a ballot. It also requires the state to provide free photo identification to those who do not have one. It will cost the state an estimated $300,000.
The requirement will not take effect until there is funding for the identification or until January 2014, whichever occurs last.
The GOP announcement is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Republican Part of Arkansas on 1201 West 6th Street in Little Rock.
