Student found dead on UCA's campus
CONWAY (KATV) - A freshman student was found dead on the University of Central Arkansas' campus Wednesday.
The 18-year-old was a full-time student living in Hughes Residential Hall. He was found in a Hughes restroom around 8:00 a.m.
At last check, investigators did not know how he died but foul play is not suspected. UCA police and the Faulkner County Coroner's Office have requested a medical examination to determine cause of death.
President Tom Courtway expressed his condolences, "We extend our deepest sympathy to the family. We need to remember them in our thoughts and prayers."
"Just to be this far into school and face adversity like this. It's a very hard thing to deal with and may God bless his family and friends, and anyone that had anything to do with him," said fellow classmate Devin St. Clair, a freshman at UCA.
"It's just extremely sad to hear."
Pastor Cornell Maltbia and counselors from the Student Health Clinic will visit with residents living in the Hughes Residential College at 6:00 Wednesday night.
