Suspect surrenders after deadly shooting
ALTHEIMER (KATV) —
The suspect in a deadly shooting Wednesday night has turned himself in to police. Keith Darnell Shelton, 30, surrendered to deputies 12 hours after Jefferson County Sheriff's Office investigators named him as the prime suspect in an overnight shooting that left one man dead and another injured. Police say the shooting occurred Wednesday night just after 8:00 near 3rd and Main streets in Altheimer. Thrisdon Deshawn Eason, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene. Alfred Burton, Jr., 26, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he received treatment for a single gunshot wound.Witnesses told police there was an argument between the victims and the suspect that led to the shooting. Investigators did not recover a weapon, but they did find shell casings from the scene. Police say Shelton will be charged with one count of first degree murder and one count of attempted murder.
