Suspect's name released in 1-year-old's shooting death
NEWPORT (KAIT, KATV) - Police have released more details into the shooting that left a 1-year-old baby dead.
According to Newport Police, 35-year-old Robert Friar shot into the bedroom of a home in the 1700 block of Daughtery Street around 2:30a Wednesday morning, hitting 21-year-old Delana Aguerre Roddy 3 or 4 times in the torso. Roddy's 1-year-old daughter, Tacari Danielle Briggs, was in bed with her and also shot.
Several attempts were made to save Tacari, but they were unsuccessful.
Roddy was airlifted to UAMS in Little Rock, where she was originally listed in critical condition. Family friends tell our ABC station in Jonesboro, KAIT, that they have spoken with Roddy and she is now in stable condition.
Investigators say Friar had been involved in a relationship with Roddy.
Friar is being charged with capital murder.
