Taking an active role in your child's education
The first day of school for kindergartners is stressful for the new students, for their younger siblings left behind and both parents.
Research shows the little guys and gals have a better shot at learning if their dad is involved in their lives.
The Little Rock School District highlighted the importance of dads on the first day of school Monday, deeming it LRSD Dads: Take Your Child to School Day, offering prizes and a Facebook contest for Dads who brought their kids to school.
According to the school district, research shows when fathers are involved in their child's education, kids learn more, perform better in school and have less disciplinary problems.
According to DadsWorld.com, 50 percent of all children with highly involved fathers in two-parent families reported getting mostly A's through their senior year compared with 35 percent of children in homes without a father.
