Three cups of sugarThree eggsOne cup of butter One cup of milk A small lump of pearl ash (substitute 1 tsp of baking soda)Not quite so stiff as pound cake Beat eggs then mix in milk, butter, sugar, and baking soda. Add enough flour to make a stiff dough. Knead dough. Roll out and cut with biscuit cutter. Bake in preheated 350-degree oven 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
