Texas man killed in I-40 pileup

A Texas man is dead after a pileup on Interstate 40 Wednesday afternoon.

Ronnie Smith, 53, of Dallas, Texas, was killed after the car he was driving was involved in an accident with four tractor trailers on I-40 westbound at the 161.5 mile marker in North Little Rock.

Three of the semis and the Cadillac sedan that was driven by Smith had slowed down for traffic ahead.

A fourth semi failed to slow and hit the Cadillac, causing it to be crushed underneath the semi in front of it, and caused a chain reaction with the other tractor trailers.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two of the semi drivers were injured in the accident.

Arkansas State Police are still investigating. No charges have been filed yet.
