Thousands of highchairs recalled after injuries

Thousands of Chicco highchairs have been recalled because they may present a fall hazard.

Chicco is working with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to recall 455,000 Polly highchairs. The company says children can fall on or against the pegs on the rear legs of the chair.

So far 21 reports have been made against the company. Four children required medical attention and one child had a scratched cornea.

The high chairs were sold at retail stores including {}Babies R Us, Burlington Coat Factory, Buy Buy Baby, Shopko and Toys R Us, as well as online outlets including,,,, and from January 2005 through July 2012 for between $100 and $150.

If you have one of the chairs, contact Chicco for a free peg cover kit. The Consumer Product Safety Commission says it is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
