Two Diamond Hogs arrested for shoplifting
Two Arkansas baseball players were arrested by Fayetteville police Sunday and charged with shoplifting.
Our affiliate in northwest Arkansas, 40/29 TV, reports Colin Poche, 19, and Adam Meyer, 19, were booked in the Washington County jail around 7 p.m. Sunday night. Both were later released on a $565 bond.
According to the arrest report, Meyer and Poche attempted to steal two cases of beer and sandwiches from the Walmart Supercenter on Martin Luther King Blvd.
Brandon Meredith, one of the store's loss prevention officers, told police he saw Poche conceal two cases of beer in a tote bag in their shopping cart on the alcohol aisle.
Merideth said he saw the suspects remove the price labels from their sandwiches and then leave the store without paying for the items.
Poche and Meyer were confronted by Meredith and another loss prevention officer outside the store. The stolen items were recovered before they were taken to jail.
Both have hearings scheduled for Wednesday.
Both players are freshmen at the University of Arkansas and left-handed pitchers for the Razorbacks.
