Two men arrested after vehicle drags officer in Fayetteville
FAYETTEVILLE - A Fayetteville police officer was taken to a hospital after attempting to stop two men from driving away on Dickson Street.
Police told KATV's affiliate, KHBS/KHOG, that officers approached two men listening to loud music in a vehicle outside the Dickson Street Theater early Saturday morning. After speaking with the men, officers noticed the driver had a suspended license.
An officer reached in the car to stop the driver from fleeing and was reportedly dragged until he fell off the car and onto the pavement.
Police arrested two men in the vehicle a short time later and identified the suspects as 23-year-old Melvin Sims and 24-year-old Leon Rucker.
Sims and Rucker were booked in to the Washington County Jail on battery, fleeing and false imprisonment charges.
The officer was treated and released from a Fayetteville hospital.
