Two NLR women threatened by driver with "samurai sword"
NORTH LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — North Little Rock police were called to the area near Camp Robinson and Remount Road after they say a man threatened another driver with a samurai-type sword during a road rage incident. Police say it happened Wednesday around 3:30 p.m. when a mother and daughter said they were traveling south on Camp Robinson when a vehicle stopped short in front of them. Angela Thomas and her mother Betty Thomas said the driver of the vehicle, 41-year-old Dereck Johnson, got out of the truck, ran towards them with a knife, and demanded money. They say he then returned to his truck and got out a samurai-type sword and slashed their front tire. The women told police they were able to drive around Johnson's vehicle and get away to safety. Johnson has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and aggravated assault.
