UAMS conducting radiation drill

On Friday the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences will conduct a drill to test how well the facility can handle a simulated radiological emergency.

Beginning at 9:30 a.m. UAMS Medical Center emergency personnel and others agencies including the Arkansas Department of Health and Entergy Arkansas will conduct the drill. The drill includes the simulated treatment of patients suffering from radiation exposure.

In this type of simulation The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Arkansas Department of Health regularly tests and grades how well UAMS performs in receiving, decontaminating and monitoring patients who have been exposed to radiation.
