UAMS graduates new doctors, other health pros

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences has conferred 891 degrees to its spring graduating class.

The degrees awarded Sunday went to doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other health professionals.

Receiving diplomas were 162 in the College of Medicine; 203 in the College of Nursing; 117 in the College of Pharmacy; 45 in the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health; 92 in the Graduate School and 272 from the College of Health Professions.

Chancellor Dan Rahn also presented an honorary doctorate to Gov. Mike Beebe, who was the commencement speaker.

UAMS is the state's only medical school.
