UPDATE: Garland County deputy resigns after prostitution charges
GARLAND COUNTY (KATV) - Garland County Sheriff's Deputy Neil Parliment resigned effective immediately Thursday morning.
The 39-year-old marine patrol officer was taken into custody on June 13 in Union County on a warrant from U.S. Marshals. According to a press release from U.S. Attorney Conner Eldridge, Parliment arranged for and facilitated a Memphis-based prostitute traveling to Hot Springs "for the purposes of exchanging sexual activity for money" between January and June.
Investigators claim Parliment not only hired the prostitute himself but introduced her to others.
If convicted, Parliment faces up to 20 years in prison.
